HCA Virginia Breaks Ground on Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

On April 23, 2008 community leaders, elected officials and representatives from HCA Virginia gathered to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for 126-bed
Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC). This day, which has been years in the making, was highlighted by speeches by Margaret Lewis, President of HCA's Capital Division; David Smith, Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade for the Commonwealth; and Jerry Logan, Chairman of the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors and the board’s representative from the Courtland District.

HCA Virginia Donates $50,000 to Germanna Community College.

On behalf Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC), Reston-based HCA Virginia today presented a check for $50,000 to Germanna Community College (GCC). The money will be used to pay the salary of instructors in the college’s Department of Nursing & Allied Health.

SRMC Advisory Board Announced

The SRMC Advisory Board, a group of diverse, informed and skilled volunteers who are providing community input into the project have recently been named and are actively meeting to help move the project forward. They were selected based on their positions as leaders and informed citizens who are committed to the well-being of the community.

What SRMC Will Offer

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will be located on a 75-acre campus south of Fredericksburg, Virginia, adjacent to Interstate 95. It has been approved for 126 beds, all in private rooms, and will provide the following services:

24-hour emergency care

Inpatient and outpatient surgery

Diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, mammography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and EKG/EEG/EMG)

Obstetrics and neonatal care (including a neonatal intensive care unit)

Cardiac catheterization

Intensive care

Endoscopy and cystoscopy
