Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center Offers Tribute to Regional EMS

December 10, 2010

Fredericksburg, VA, December 10, 2010 -- Men and women who sacrifice their time, and sometimes their very lives, were honored on Wednesday, December 8, at an event hosted by Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC).

Nearly 80 members of Fire and EMS squads from Spotsylvania County, Fredericksburg, Caroline County, and Stafford County joined members of SRMC's leadership team at the dinner event, which was held in the Spotsy Café located in Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. During the event, hospital CEO Tim Tobin and COO Terika Richardson presented a total of $25,000 to squads in the regional municipalities.

"The men and women who represent our local fire and EMS squads deserve not only our appreciation, but also our full support," said Tim Tobin, CEO of Spotsylvania Regional. "The partnerships that we’ve developed with these professional responders since we opened in June, has been gratifying for Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center."

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center opened June 7, 2010 and is a part of HCA Virginia, which is the commonwealth’s most comprehensive healthcare network.

SRMC is a $175 million hospital with 126-beds and all rooms are private and provide a wide range of in- and outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency care, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, cardiac catheterization and psychiatric care. Located on a 75-acre campus south of Fredericksburg on Interstate 95, the hospital won state approval to build a cancer treatment center, which will be built next to the Pogonia Medical Arts Building, an 80,000-square-foot medical office building attached to the hospital. SRMC has employed nearly 500 staff members and will pay roughly $1.5 million in taxes annually to Spotsylvania County, thereby broadening the county’s tax base.
