Thomas C. Barker Outstanding Preceptor Award or The Barker Award is given In recognition of administrative residency preceptors who have demonstrated exceptional mentorship and leadership for Master of Healthcare Administration students. This award was established to honor Dean Thomas C. Barker for his years of devotion to the Department of Health Administration at VCU.
Sebastian Haines, a current Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center resident and a student in the VCU Master of Healthcare Administration program, nominated Tim Tobin because as he stated, "Mr. Tobin is one of the few executives that I have had the privilege to meet who truly exemplifies servant leadership, and whose team is determined to do the right thing. The number one goal in healthcare is always to do right by the patient, and I was able to see this followed throughout my year at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
